The July 21st meeting of the Greenway Joint Receration Association was called to order by President Delich at 7:00 p.m.
Members Present: George Delich, Carrisa McIlwain, Barb Gibeau, Richard Woodman, Casey Venema, Kim Venema, William Guyer, Dan Strand, Dave Damyanovich, Dick Foss, Jeanne Newstrom and Pat Guyer.
Others Present: Andy Grey, Jason Mallum from GAHA
Motion made by C. Venema, second by W. Guyer to accept the minutes from the June 16 meeting. Motion carried.
As of June 30 there is $12,719.15 in the account. Motion made by Foss, second by Strand to accept the treasurer’s report. Motion carried.
Old Business: Discussed the wages for the concession manager. Gibeau suggested waiting until it was up and running.
The website is up and running. P. Guyer and Newstrom had a meeting with the Itasca Area School Collaborative and Community Ed.
Motion made by Newstrom, second by W. Guyer to partner with the Itasca Area School Collaborative. Motion carried.
New Business: GAHA has a lease with Pepsi through October 2015. They have talked to Pepsi about a new score board. GAHA will have a booth at Fish-A-Rama. Magnetation is a platinum sponsor. Grey suggested having ice time for the challenged kids so they can learn to skate. He also suggested having the high school kids as mentors. Tony Donahue is working on the scheduling. He is sending out e-mails every two weeks.
Kim Venema said she would like to be the tournament director again for association’s fishing tournament. We will keep the same date. The groups that helped were happy with the tournament last year. Motion made by Newstrom, second by Foss to hire Kim Venema as the tournament director and have the date on Saturday, Jan. 31. Motion carried. The license has to be in by August. The board will run it through the field check book.
McIlwain told the board the regulations to enforce policies at the arena should be completed by registration in September. The board should have it ready for the next meeting and on the web for the Pony Football players and parents. Motion made by C. Venema, second by McIlwain for collaboration of GAHA, Figure Skating and the Board to draft, take to lawyers and bring back to the next meeting. Motion carried. Gibeau also brought up that board members should be present at registration.
Directors Report: Little League Tourney starting tonight in Bovey. Seven teams are participating. They will be done on Thursday.
The squirt tourney is next Monday through Wednesday in Bovey. Junior tournament is the following weekend in Hibbing.
Hockey camp went very well. To date the expenses are $9,738.37 with figure skating coaches still left to pay. Revenue to date $22,581.00 with a few outstanding payments left.
Delivery of the roof top units should be in within the next few weeks. They are waiting on an electrician form for the power at the field so the board can get the power application completed. The city bought a meter for watering fields. It will have to be connected and disconnected each time. Approved getting quotes for beams. Thirty beams need to be fixed. Iron Maidens bout is on Aug. 9.
