The Grand Rapids-Greenway Lightning’s eight game unbeaten streak came to a close on Thursday at the Edina Holiday Tournament at Braemar Arena as they suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the second ranked Hopkins Royals. Hannah Schmoll scored the lone goal for Grand Rapids-Greenway while shorthanded in the second period. Jordan McLaughlin assisted. However, two goals from Corbin Boyd and goals from Stella Haberman and Rachael St. Clair allowed the Royals to pull away. Molly Dionne finished with eight saves while Shannon Hart ended the game with 28 saves in the loss.
The Lightning suffered a tough 4-2 defeat to Lakeville South on Friday afternoon. Jordan McLaughlin and Sadie Peart scored for the Lightning in the loss. The Lightning rebounded with a 4-4 tie on Saturday to Apple Valley. Hannah Schmoll recorded the hat trick and Jordan McLaughlin tallied in the tie. Shannon Hart finished the game with 33 saves on 11 shots.
