With a decision due soon on the Keewatin wastewater treatment facility, the city council last week spent an hour discussing the plan submitted by Stantec.
Costs range from $2,132,343 (Keewatin’s “minimum” plan) to $5,659,842 (Keewatin plus the Keetac plant). Councilors were most apprehensive about what really needs to be done and the cost of those repairs and upgrades. Further discussion will be held at the March 5 public hearing.
The audit agreement with Fort & Company was approved. The audit will begin in May and the report issued by Aug. 31.
A new scoreboard was ordered for the baseball field. The cost is $3,850 and to date, $2,300 has been received in donations.
The road maintenance agreement with St. Louis County was amended. The compensation per mile per year was increased from $250 to $400, and the city will be allowed up to 50 cubic yards of either salt sand or Class 5 gravel or a combination of the two per annum.
The next regular meeting for the council will be held at 5 p.m. on March 12.
