Last week, county commissioners approved the temporary rehire of former county coordinator Irene Koski.
Koski would work as interim administrator while the board decides what administrative model to move forward with. The county board terminated the employment contract of former administrator Trish Harren, effective April 15.
County Board Chair Rusty Eichorn and Commissioner Terry Snyder identified several interim goals they hope for Koski to achieve including: rebuilding relationships with employees, assisting human resources with hires, assisting in the development of a new coordinator or administrator position, assisting with the negotiation of union contracts and continuing work on the recently completed compensation and classification study.
The board passed a motion at last week’s regular county board meeting to move ahead with an employment agreement for Koski. She is expected to be available for work in early May.
In other business, the board:
• Listened to introductions from Sandy Layman and Matt Bliss. Both are running for state representative in districts 5B and 5A, respectively.
• Conducted a conference call with Loren Solberg, county lobbyist, and Sen. Tom Saxhaug, who noted that he does not expect much new health and human services spending this session.
• Approved warrants in the amount of $480,226.49.
• Rescheduled a coffee with the county session to May 18.
