Linda Nielsen of Bovey has announced her intention to file for re-election for Itasca County Recorder/Registrar.
Nielsen was elected in 2010 to serve the term of County Recorder/Registrar for 2011-2014. She was hired as Chief Deputy in the Recorder/Registrar’s Office in February 2003 and was appointed to serve as Interim County Recorder/Registrar on 7/1/08 for the remainder of the 2007-2010 term, due to the retirement of Jean Bengston Winter. Prior to her employment in the Recorder/Registrar’s Office, she worked for many years in the Auditor/Treasurer’s Department.
Linda and her husband, Glen, are lifelong residents of Itasca County, and live in the rural Bovey area. She has three children and five grandchildren who are also residents of Itasca County. She has been a county employee for 33+ years.
The Recorder/Registrar’s Office deals with the filing of real estate documents as well as the filing of personal property documents. The office maintains an indexing record of all documents as well as an archivable copy of the image. This office also deals with the issuing of certified copies of birth/death certificates, marriage licenses and certificates, recording minister credentials and notary commissions. Linda is very proud of her staff and their customer service skills. The office is working on many different projects to help customers retrieve information digitally.
