The Greenway Raiders used a four-run third inning to pick up a 4-3 victory over the Virginia Blue Devils on Wednesday afternoon, May 21 at the Pengilly Baseball Field. Jaden Erkilla scattered six hits in picking up the win for Greenway.
Erkilla worked around five walks in his six and a third innings of work. He allowed just three runs while striking out five batters.
Tyler Peterson closed out the game on the mound to record the save. He allowed only hit while inducing two fly balls to earn the save.
A two-out rally in the third helped the Raiders come from behind as they trailed by 2-0 entering into the frame. Pat Shea roped a double to left and Justin Guyer worked a walk to put two guys on base. Kole Kalisch followed with a two-run double to tie the game. Kadin Kalisch followed with an RBI single to make it 3-2. Jacob Neumeyer singled to put runners on the corners and Taylor Lantz delivered a run scoring single to make it 4-2.
The Blue Devils threatened to tie the game up in the seventh after back-to-back walks but Peterson was able to wiggle out of the jam to preserve the win.
Kole Kalisch had a hit and drove in two runs while Kadin Kalisch had a hit and plated a run. Neumeyer had two hits in the game while Lantz had a hit and an RBI as well.
