The Greenway Raider baseball team opened the 2014 baseball season against the South St. Paul Packers on Friday afternoon. It was the first time outside for the Raiders and the Raiders suffered a season opening, 8-1, defeat.
The Raiders hung tough for much of the contest, however, some timely hits late by South St. Paul helped them to the victory.
Jaden Erkilla suffered the loss on the mound. He went six innings allowing eight runs, four earned, on five hits while striking out three batters.
Kole Kalisch led the offense for the Raiders with two hits in three trips to the plate. Justin Guyer, Kaden Kalisch and Jacob Neumeyer recorded hits for Greenway in the contest. The Raiders were back in action on Saturday as this edition went to press.
