At last week’s Bovey City Council meeting, Planning and Zoning Chairman Mike Foss discussed the need to approve the final draft of the Bovey zoning map.
The KMDA expansion project requires a zoning definition for the proposed building site. The areas of the Emergency Services Building and the KMDA expansion are proposed to be zoned as public use and business respectively. A public hearing must be held before the city council approves the final draft. The public hearing will be held in the council chambers on June 15, 2016 at 5:50 p.m.
Public Works Supervisor Kevin Odden gave an update on the sewer reconditioning project where over 400 feet of sewer pipe will be relined with the pipes in place. The inside of the pipes will be coated with PVC in one day saving the city of Bovey tens of thousands of dollars in repairs.
Police Chief Bill Hollom reported in a letter to council members that an on duty Bovey police officer was involved in a two vehicle accident the morning of April 18 on State Highway 169 near Taconite. No injuries were reported and the 2015 Dodge squad car was determined to be a total loss. The officer submitted to drug and alcohol testing and the results of which indicated no evidence of drugs or alcohol in the officer’s system.
In other business, the council:
• Voted to approve the agenda.
• Scheduled a public meeting on water meters for June 15, 2016 after the city council meeting.
• Discussed the legal status of the Gillespie property.
